By now you may have decided I just have a bad attitude. I can certainly see why you may have formed that opinion. I personally prefer to think of it as a healthy dose of cynicism or, at worst, over-active sarcasm. So I thought I’d just take a minute to share a couple of my favorite websites as a cynic.
First, if you’ve been in any offices anywhere in the past few years you’ve seen those damn “Successories.” They’re the framed posters usually with some picture of nature like a mountain range with a word like CHALLENGES and some painfully flowery platitude, like “There are no short-cuts to anywhere worth going.” Blah, blah, blah. Ugh! I find these almost painful, so god help you if you actually work in a sea of cubicles somewhere with these things plastered on the walls: COURAGE, TEAMWORK, COMMUNICATION, PRIORITIES, Aaaargghh! If you feel the way I do, you must visit Despair.com a satirical version of Successories - their logo is a frowning smiley,
. For an example of their artwork, they use a picture of a lightning bolt that reads PESSIMISM with the message “Every dark cloud has a silver lining, but lightning kills hundred of people every year who are trying to find it.” Some of my other favorites include, DYSFUNCTION, BITTERNESS, and PROCRASTINATION. They have a wide range of products, I personally have purchased their calendar and a clear coffee mug with a line in the middle below which is printed “This cup is now half empty.” I love this company!
One of my other favorite sites isn’t sarcastic as much as it is just plain bizarre! You would never expect to find stick figure drawings on the internet and if you did, you definitely wouldn’t expect them to be so entertaining. Explodingdog.com will prove you wrong! (Don’t worry, no dogs were exploded or harmed in any way in developing of this website.) People e-mail this guy a simple phrase like “My head hurts” or “Why don’t you call me anymore?” and he uses it as a theme for these very odd little stick figure drawings. Here’s an example:
“Everything you know is wrong.”

I don’t know why I find this site so entertaining, but three or four new entries are posted every week and I can spend hours going thru the archives.
Anywhoozer, this should provide just a little more insight into my warped little mind. Not that you asked.
PS: For satire I also enjoy watching “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central and for bizarre you can’t go wrong with “Space Ghost” on the Cartoon Network - Brak rules!
