Happy Arbor Day!

This is always a busy week for me. My best friend’s birthday was the 22nd and my dog, Kylie’s, birthday was today.

But here’s something I found puzzling recently.. A local furniture store advertising their Arbor Day Sale, with big discounts on all Oak and Pine furniture! So.. we’re showing our appreciation for the trees by making them into cheap coffee tables? That’s similar to having lamb for Easter dinner, another tradition I don’t get. I am not a religious person by any stretch, but that just seems like sacrilege when celebrating “the Lamb of God,” you might as well cook up some rabbit too so the Easter Bunny doesn’t feel left out. People and their traditions - I just don’t understand! We might as well celebrate Earth Day by setting forest fires? Oh, speaking of forest fires, the state of Colorado is burning down as we speak. They have had record low amounts of precipitation this season (Of course they have, I moved here for the snow.), and as a result we are experiencing the dryest conditions in history. Should make for a pleasant summer, eh? There are devastating daily brush fires. Yesterday, everyone at my house was having sinus problems, then in the afternoon we look out the windows and it looks like armegedon. You couldn’t even see the mountains thru the smoke. There was a 200 acre fire 45 miles away and the wind was carrying the smoke well into the city. 36 hours later they are still trying to put it out, now however it’s a 2000 ACRE FIRE! Oh, and speaking of unnatural disasters, did you hear there was a significant earthquake in New York state earlier this week? That’s not normal. Speaking of New York, last week it was 95 degrees, this week people are back in coats and scarves. What have we done to our planet? Do you suppose we should be concerned? Or is it in fact, armegedon? Maybe I should rethink that whole religion thing. But like I said, this is a busy week for me so it’ll have to wait. On a lighter note regarding Arbor Day.. Do you notice anything odd about this picture taken on one of my many road trips (Other than the fact that anyone would go to Nebraska on a road trip.) ?
