Well, its been about 28 hours since the season ended, or rather crashed and burned (Detroit-7 Colorado – 0 in game 7). I’m a little numb, which is an improvement. I can’t remember ever being so affected by a hockey game, and I have been to some really disappointing games. But this was THE game, GAME 7, next stop the Cup. But as it turned out it was the last game, talk about ending on a bad note, - public humiliation at the hands of the damn red wings, the evil red menace. I asked a friend who is a Flyer’s fan how you cope with such a big loss (cause if anyone would know..), she said “We always blame the coach, then fire him.” While that did give me a laugh, I don’t think that would help in this situation, I think I just have to get thru a very long hot summer. But for now, I’m off hockey! Speaking of bad season enders.. I have never in my life been so glad to see a season of prime time tv be put out of its misery! Yes, I realize that was weeks ago, but it still bears mentioning. The best example of the worst season finale ever, without a doubt, “Friends.” Come on, now!? Everybody’s in love with Rachel who was irresponsible enough to get knocked up by Ross, whines thru the entire pregnancy, tells him she doesn’t want him to date anybody else ever, to which he agrees, then she surpasses even that level of selfishness by dragging Joey into this bizarre love triangle. Can you really get away with that if you look like Jenifer Aniston? Wait, reality check.. its tv . I just hate it when they get that ridiculous, its supposed to be a comedy for christ’s sake. “Will & Grace” was also hugely annoying – what is with the baby crap? Do we have a bunch of hormonal NBC execs? “er”’s tear-jerker isn’t even worth mentioning. “24” provided at least an ounce of satisfaction with the last minute offing of the irritating wife, but that doesn’t nearly make up for the hours of torture, especially since there wasn’t really time to appreciate it.. “Alias” was a little exciting in spite of being utterly ludicrous, but the biggest disappointment of all… I totally forgot to watch the finale of “Law & Order,” greatest tv show on earth (with CSI as a close second, but I can’t even remember their last episode). Anyway, at least now I won’t be as quick to complain about summer re-runs. The one exception to all this… “The Osbournes,” I already miss them dreadfully. And oh yeah, GO HURRICANES!
