Is tomorrow really New Year’s Eve?? That seems inconceivable, yet I can’t remember one single detail about last new year’s eve.. nothing.. notta.. But last year was weird wasn’t it? Nobody was celebrating really. Oh wait.. it was my first new year in Denver – now I remember something! New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, with Dick Clark, an American tradition, broadcast “live” from Times Square.. It’s not broadcast live here!! It’s a delayed broadcast! How ridiculous is that!?! We tuned in before 10:00 to catch the festivities in NYC, only to find some other cheesy programming. Then when it was midnight here –two hours later- ABC was showing the ball dropping AS IF it was live! What the hell is the point of that? It’s already over! All those drunk people are already back in Jersey. What am I, stupid? It’s among the lame-est things they do here in bible-belt adjacent Colorado. [Don’t get the wrong idea, I really like it here. Certain things just seem a little odd to me.]
Christmas was nice tho. That wish list business worked out pretty well for me thanks to m and Suky and others who shall remain name-less. So I’m gonna leave the link to my wishlist up all the time and update the items periodically. And Christmas day I got what I really wanted. I slept very late, stayed in my pj’s all day, had a fire in the fireplace all evening, watched tv, and played games – it was wonderful. The day after was a different story. I had to work – at the mall. Never have I despised people more. I can’t even talk about it.
Oh, we have a new hobby for the new year. Actually we started today. It’s called geocaching. It’s hard to explain but basically you go on-line and find clues, including geographical coordinates, to find little treasure chests people have hidden. Then you sign the log book that’s hidden, you leave a little trinket and take one, then log it on the website. It’s pretty cool! Sometimes they aren’t hidden items, just obscure objects that you have to find to answer a riddle or something (like I said, it’s kind of hard to explain). There are tons around here, and are sure to make road trips even more interesting.
Other than that, I’m looking forward to ringing in the New Year with my TiVo a bottle of cheap champagne and my new ring tone – Smooth Criminal, the Alien Ant Farm version.
