I really don’t think I need to say anything here. I don’t think there is anything I could say to make this any funnier than the reality of the situation. The reality that the US Congress spent the afternoon deciding how to drop the “french” in fries and toast. To show you that I didn’t make this up here is the best article of the 25 that I skimmed.
And why was it necessarry to spend our tax dollars on this debate?? To retaliate against France for their, and i quote, “continued refusal to stand with their U.S. allies…. This action today is a small, but symbolic, effort to show the strong displeasure many on Capitol Hill have with our so-called ally, France.” Well that’ll learn ‘em! But wait.. what about French onion soup & French kissing, not to mention there are 12 U.S. states that have the town of Paris! Can I just point out here that the French already hate us and they don’t eat french fries! [as a side note, I went to Paris and had French onion soup, which was listed on the menu as just onion soup. Surprisingly, I didn't have fries the whole time I was there.] I would like to further point out that we have just given them grounds to act superior! P.S. nobody in congress should be eating french fries OR french toast at this point, for obvious reasons.
Between this and the Elizabeth Smart story which gets weirder by the minute… This Emmanuel fellow was held in police custody for six days in January or February on charges of vandalism and/or burglary or something! Couldn’t she have gotten away then? Didn’t they search his residence then? And pictures have surfaced at her with him at a party! She was wearing a veil, but still.. nobody noticed this? she couldn’t slip somebody a note? I would just like to poll parents of teenage girls nationwide if they think they could manage to successfully ground them for nine months, or keep them off the telephone for nine hours for that matter!? Anyway.. i’m feeling like Tweek on South Park! I’m developing a twitch and having regular outbursts, “jeezus christ!,” “oh my god!,” “i can’t take it!” Speaking of South Park, last night they ran a re-run of the episode when all the parents get totally paranoid about kidnappings, titled “child abduction is not funny.” I ask you.. does art imitate life or vice versa? South Park.. art? Well you get the idea.
I hope McDonalds changes their menu to offer McFreedom Fries! I’m so proud to be an american!
