So it occurred to me while watching season two of ‘the restaurant,’ starring rocco dispirito, aka captain douchebag (what a prick! I’m so glad he got cancelled), with all the talk of Mama’s meatballs, that I have NEVER actually eaten meatballs. And believe me I’ve had plenty of opportunities. At restaurants anyway, I mean I’ve also never actually had honest to god, authentic Italian home cooking. That’s really sad isn’t it? So I guess I just always found other stuff on the menu more appealing. So I decided I must try some meatballs. Then we didn’t have Italian for awhile, then I forgot and got the penne with gorgonzola & garlic – delicious. But finally I did it. I ordered some good ole’ spaghetti & meatballs. And let’s just say.. there ARE more appealing things on the menu. Granted, these were Macaroni Grill meatballs, and I know, I know, that barely counts. I should’ve at least found some hole-in-the-wall mom & pop pasta place, but whadda ya gonna do? It is still a lot of meat in the shape of a ball and I don’t think I’m a fan. And for the record, I don’t think meatballs like me either, but that’s all I’m gonna say about that. But at least now I won’t die a meatball virgin.
