No, YOU Shut Up!

Woot Off!!

February 16th, 2006 by g

We have found many new & interesting (using the terms loosely) websites to entertain ourselves around here. Mostly celebrity gossip blogs which I will not share here because I don’t want to contribute to the delinquency of fine upstanding, uncorrupted individuals who might have innocently stumbled across my blog. Except this one, for some serious fashion faux-pas, it’s hysterical: Go Fug Yourself! And this one is pretty self explanatory: Awful Plastic Surgery, but often quite shocking.

My favorite site, however, that I must visit everyday is pure & innocent and all that is good about the internet (i must warn you however that it is addictive): Cute Overload ;) !

But there are two words, and one website that can ensue instant insanity in this household… “Woot Off!!!!” Woot.com, in case you are tragically uninformed, offers one deal per day. Every night at midnight central time they put up a new item. It could be a blender or a hard drive or a watch or a 62″ flat screen tv, and they sell it all at rediculously, low, low prices! And they have very amusing product descriptions that entertain even when whatever they’re selling is complete crap. And speaking of crap.. at random, about once every two or three months their product for the day is a “bag of crap,” which only cost a dollar and is awesome because you have no idea what you’re going to get!! And even tho it usually lives up to it’s name, like the time we got a broken cd player, it doesn’t matter because it’s the thrill of the hunt that is the beauty of the bag of crap (aka, boc; they are very difficult to buy because they are rare and when they appear people go nuts, and servers crash!) , as well as the anticipation of what you’re gonna get! And just to make things more interesting, there have been reported cases of people getting that 62″ flat screen as part of their boc! Anyway, the only thing more exciting than a bag of crap is a woot off! In a woot off they put up one product after another, after another, and you never know how long each item will be available or when the woot off will end. You only have flashing yellow lights to indicate that the woot off is underway and a status bar to give you some indication of how fast the current item is clearing out. It may sound retarded, but in fact it’s exhillerating, it’s exhausting (you can’t sleep, you might miss something good), it’s actually utterly rediculous but you’ll be amazed at how fiercely you get sucked in! Woot offs usually start on thur nite / friday am but tonight, a random wednesday in mid-february the fun has begun! So, I should probably go make some coffee in the very cool coffee maker that brews directly into a travel mug that I got as my first woot purchase for only $15 bucks, and settle in. By the way, shipping is always only $5. Happy Wooting!
