No, YOU Shut Up!

drive-in, schmive-in

April 28th, 2006 by g

This time last week i was going to post about how we’re getting screwed by the drive-in. the movies actually get worse every week! while this would actually be saving me $$, we recently invested in a new futon for the back of the crv to make our drive-in escapades more comfy! and while i said i need to lower my standards, there’s a limit. and apparently the limit is: screen 1 - ice age 2 (seen it), benchwarmers (hate that napoleon dynamite guy), and the ringer (seen it - if you’ll recall that was lowering my standards). OR screen 2 - scary movie 18 (the only thing worse than a spoof is the sequel of a spoof), the hills have eyes (hated it), and date movie (spoof, seen it, hated it). geesh! what kind of crowd are they trying to draw? last summer we saw, wedding crashers, skeleton key, flight plan, etc. new movies, good movies. of course there were some suck-fests in there too, but the suck factor just keeps getting more sucky! anyway, i was going to post that last week, but then drive-in, schmive-in, at the last minute we got to go to Vail for the weekend and stay in a really, really, nice house -hottub, fireplace, the whole 9- for FREE! it was sooo nice, so i decided not to complain.

but now i’m back in the real world (btw, the next season of “the real world” will be filmed in denver. i think they’re going to have to call it, “the real boring world,” or “the real white world,” but i’ll get back to that later), and do you know what’s on at the drive-in this week…? exactly the same thing!! they did not change or add one single new movie, sucky or otherwise. wtf? what exactly am i supposed to do with my weekend? btw, occasionally, tho extremely admitedly very, very rarely we do something a bit more cultural around here. for example, i recently went to a museum on a friday night instead of the drive-in. of course that was to see the “body worlds 2″ exhibit which some would say is less cultural and more just morbid and maybe even creepy.

anyway, the point is, its not like i don’t have a life really, its just that its good clean family fun that includes lots of junk food - its awesome! so in the absence of the absolutely fluke occurrence of getting access to a luxury home in Vail at no charge, how are we supposed to spend our weekends (and our $)? okay, okay.. i’m sure it will get better it’s not even may yet. right?
