okay, i’m about to start the last episode of alias ever - yay! but i really can’t spend too much time talking about it because i have to cover my 8 hour trip to the drive in, and no we didn’t fall asleep.
omg, worst episode ever (of any show)! not even worthy of re-capping or complaining about!
so.. the drive in has definitely improved it’s selection over the last few weeks (maybe somebody there read my blog). this past weekend on screen 1 was “over the hedge,” “RV,” and M.I.III (ugh), and on screen 2 was “the davinci code,” “Poseidon,” and “the davinci code.” okay, we kind of screwed around longer than usual before heading out, and we totally underestimated the draw of the davinci code. there was a line of cars literally 4, maybe 6 blocks around the corner!! but we made it in, and only missed the first few minutes of “over the hedge,” which as it turns out are quite crucial to the plot; i still have no idea why the bear was blackmailing the raccoon, but i suspect it was just because he could. and it really didn’t matter the movie was still very cute and wholesome, and pleasant - but there were about a kazillion kids running around. RV was also pleasant, and amusing, and fun for the whole family, but then i love robin williams. then in an attempt to get our money’s worth -and wanted to avoid tom cruise- so we snuck over to screen 2 for the last show. what i have neglected to mention until now is that, since the days are getting longer the first show doesn’t start until 8:30, and the davinci code lasts 3 frickin’ hours almost! so if you do the math, that means the last showing of the davinci code started at 1:30 A.M. and actually they were running a little late and it started at 1:40. and did i mention it is almost 3 frickin’ hours long?! it was after 4:00 when it was over!! jeezzuz christ! okay, so it wasn’t quite 8 hours, but it was more than 7. that’s like a work day!! and i have to tell you, it was WORK to watch the davinci code! it is sooooo boring! so a very logical friend of mine asked me, “so why did you stay?” and i tried to explain that it was about stamina - but then i admitted to dozing off at some point so that wasn’t exactly plausible, but believe me i would have dozed off during that movie at 3:00 in the afternoon while drinking a double espresso, let alone 3:00 in the morning (2 hours after the snack bar closed).
oh, then before we drove off a fellow die hard drive in fan (tho clearly an amateur) had to ask me for a jump start. since he was with a date, he was quite embarrassed; and i certainly didn’t make him feel any better by telling him that i did the same thing.
so as we were getting close to home, the sky in the east was getting pretty light, but i managed to get to bed just before dawn.
coming up this weekend they are showing “XMen III” before and after the davinci code on screen 2, and nothing new on screen 1, they just rearranged a bit. we were planning to skip it entirely, but i just now noticed that they are now open every night!! so maybe we’ll go on a school night, but perhaps come home at a decent hour.
