it’s been a long time since i posted anything about crazy Colorado, except the crazy, stupid, hot weather - by the way, it was 87 yesterday instead of 95 like it has been and they actually referred to this as a “cold front”! anywhooo.. today i just can’t resist, because July 1st Colorado finally went smoke-free in all public buildings!! amazing! the only exceptions are the smoking lounge at the airport, tobacco shops (which seems like a fire hazard), and casinos. you can’t even smoke within 15 feet of building entrances - so i’m planning to start carrying a tape measure in my purse.
on june 30th, bars & restaurants put up signs like “one day and counting, smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em,” and things of that nature. i love it! now if they would ban babies in public places maybe i would start going to restaurants again instead of doing take out all the time! and maybe in a few more years we’ll be like california where you can only smoke in your car & only with your windows rolled up!
but something even more newsworthy (tho i didn’t see it on the news) went on june 30th. planned parenthood of colorado was giving away free “EC”! what’s EC, you ask?? is it anything like ED, you ask? quite opposite actually.. it’s Emergency Contraception, a girl’s best friend! it’s the day after pill, which is more accurately the days after pills. anyway, planned parenthood got all pissed of at the governor for rejecting a bill that would allow pharmacists to dispense EC as needed. so they took matters into their own hands. and so did i! well, i tried anyway, told my boss i had to go to the bank and headed down there - just seems like something you might wanna have around the house (just in case), especially if its free - like most girls, i love free samples! sadly they didn’t have somebody in a giant condom costume passing them out when you walked in the door. you had to fill out a form and wait til they called your name and for some reason they were VERY busy so they said it would take about 30 minutes. unfortunately that would have been a very long trip to the bank and i was on the clock of course. so i did not get my free EC, but from the looks of things, lots of women did, which is good! i’ll just have to avoid that type of E, otherwise i’ll have to throw myself down some stairs and go to the ER, which is not free. anyway, i’m a big fan of planned parenthood (or actually no parenthood). if they were more successful maybe i could start eating in restaurants again instead of doing take out all the time.
