Good News from the Comic-Con

Bryan Singer appeared spoke at the Comic Con this week in San Diego and announced that he’d like a Superman sequel, starring Brandon Routh of course, to be released in 2009. This is not big news, it makes sense that Singer would want to do another one, he said “Superman Returns” re-introduced the characters to a new generation and was designed to make us care about them (it obviously worked around here). In the next one he said he can go all “Wrath of Kahn” on it and add more action (which seems to be all kids today care about). The real good news is that Brian said he has been in meetings with Warner Bros. execs about a sequel and that talks have been positive. So while there’s no confirmation, things look good!
Apparently Brian also answered questions about the deleted scenes of Krypton and said they probably will not be on the dvd but may be seen in a new version of the movie for release in IMAX 3-D. Then he treated the audience to a several minutes-long blooper reel that included outtakes from most of the major cast. One line that Brandon got tongue-tied on: “I hope this experience hasn’t turned anyone on.” I would have raised my hand!
On a more personal note, Brandon says he does not like going to night clubs. He told Hello magazine: “You can go to all the glitzy and glamorous places, but it all starts to look the same after a while. Besides, when you got to clubs, sometimes the music is so loud you can’t talk to anyone. I feel like my grandfather, saying, ‘Could you just turn the music down? I’m trying to have a conversation!’ That’s not fun for me.” Brandon said his ideal day is spent playing sports with his friends, and his ideal night in is being cuddled up on the sofa with his girlfriend, whats-her-face, and watch a movie. aaawwwh!
