Princess Glenda

No, YOU Shut Up!

Blue Monday

August 21st, 2006 by g

Today is Josh Blue Day in Denver! Apparently there’s a parade downtown and evertything - Yay Josh!! So glad the princess glenda kryptonite curse did not affect him and he was the Last Comic Standing! I was so nervous and so prepared to feel soooo guilty if that Ty guy won. I would really love to go see Josh but I guess I needed to get those tickets in advance before he won because now all his shows are sold out. Good for him!!

The other big news in crazy colorado is all the JonBenet stuff, which is just kind of.. uncomfortable isn’t it? When I first saw the headlines that there was an arrest my reaction was relief for the Ramseys because I have never thought they were guilty - which is odd since I always blame the parent(s)/spouse/significant other, and think it’s rediculous in those cases when they say they can’t establish “motive.” If you live with some one, or if you are related to them, you have a built-in, ready-made motive. People are just annoying, and the more time you spend with some body, generally speaking, the more you wanna kill them. Like Chris Rock said, “If you ain’t contemplated murder, you ain’t been in love!” Anyway… point is, my gut (formed from my years of devoted viewing of every episode of Law & Order ever aired + a criminal justice degree gathering dust) always said the Ramseys didn’t do it. However, and unfortunately, I also don’t think uber-perv John Mark Karr did it either. It just makes no sense. Tho it does seem like he needs to be off the streets. But as I said, it’s all very uncomfortable so lets move on…

Today may be Blue Monday, but that’s a good thing. And now for the bad news… Tomorrow could be Terrible Tuesday! I was made aware a couple weeks ago that Aug. 22, 2006 could be the end of the world as we know it (”and i feel fine.” - sorry, i love that song). Apparently it is a very big day on the Islamic calendar, and coincidentally the date Iranian President, Ahmadinejad,  has chosen for giving his final answer to the U.S. about their intentions for nuclear development (umm, yikes!). I guess this started out as scholarly speculation, an educated estimate of what they might have in mind. But when the Wall Street Jornal reported, “This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind.” it gained some credibility to say the least. You can find lots more details by googling “August 22, 2006 + Iran”, but Boing Boing.net has a good summary of the situation.

Fortunately for Josh, the parade is today! And fortunately for me I managed to get all my birthday presents in advance (I actually used this whole apocolyptic business to my advantage)! But if this is to be my last post… peace & love people!

(humming my favorite part of the song - “it’s time i had some time alone”..)
