Super Sequel is Secured!

according to Box Office Mojo, Superman Returns has reached it’s $200 million dollar goal!! This is especially significant because Warner Bros. Pictures pres. and COO Alan Horn was previously reported to have said that if SR hit the $200 million mark domestically, the studio would move ahead with a sequel. That day finally came last weekend, earning $173,000 to bring its total to $200,006,305 after 117 days in release. The film has earned about $190 million overseas for a worldwide total of $390 million. Horn said back in August that he expected Superman Returns to eventually gross about $400 million worldwide, and that he “thought it was a very successful movie, but I think it should have done $500 million worldwide.” He and Bryan Singer have both mentioned a possible summer 2009 release for the sequel. (holy hell! won’t i be 40 in 2009?! i’ll have to wear bi-focals to the drive in to see Brandon by then!)

Ok Bryan, this gives us plenty of time to re-cast Lois Lane. My personal recommendation, the obvious oversite, Rachel McAdams. Rachel McAdams Why was she not considered? (a) she’s not annorexic + she has some color (b) she’s a muuuuch better actress than whats-her-name (then again so is Kylie), and (3) she can even hold her own in action sequences, did you see “Red Eye”? but seriously, every single time i watched the movie (and that’s 9, not counting the version i saw that fell off a truck) i swear bosworth’s performance got worse! worst scene in the whole movie.. when lois spills her purse on the floor and stomps her tiny foot and says “great.” ugh! it’s like watching a high school play. irritates me every single time. and don’t get me started on the air quotes. obviously i’m not going to pick on the movie, but she is soooo the weak point and unfortunately has more screen time & dialog than lex & clark put together. on what basis was she cast anyway?? her stellar performance in “blue crush” ?! please! she was a complete hooker! oh, ok well, maybe.. anyway, Mr. Singer, don’t try and give me some lame excuse about continuity. if we’ve learned anything from this whole experience (or from the success of “LOST”), it’s that people don’t care about continuity! i mean, i do, but i am totally in favor of making an exception in this case. so again, Rachel McAdams, call her!!
Kate Bosworth
you tell me… who makes a better Lois Lane ??

Rachel McAdams
for that matter, who makes the better kate bosworth? this scary, skinny, skeleton, ghost girl…

Kate Bosworth

OR this semi pretty, semi normal-looking girl without the chipmunk cheeks??

wow!! it doesn’t even look like her!! she looks so much more…. human!

oh well, what do i care? none of them are as pretty as brandon, and i KNOW he’ll be in the sequel!

TV Guide spoke with Brandon Routh, the star of “Superman Returns”, about his up-coming voice work on The Batman cartoon, where Routh will be playing the villainous Everywhere Man. Here’s an exclusive excerpt from the TV Guide article…

This latest addition to the Dark Knight’s rogues’ gallery uses quantum technology to duplicate himself, which is handy for stealing art. Routh, who tackled the part with campy zeal, enjoyed the chance to be the bad guy. “It’s fun to play that side, especially with animation, because you can really go over the top,” he says. “What would seem ridiculous on film plays well in animation.”

Listen out for Routh’s voice during the episode scheduled to air on The CW network in the U.S. on November 4th at 10.30am/9.30c.

I agree that Kate was miscast, number one she was too young and under-fed. Rachel is a nice choice but looks a little too much like Parker Posey don’t you think?
I’m available if they get truly desperate!

That’s the beauty of makeup, point is she is a good actress, she’s done action and best of all she’s not Kate. I suspect that they may have no choice but to recast the part of Lois, Kate will likely be an actual skeleton by the time they start shooting, have you seen her lately, she’s practically see through, like the geckos in Hawaii.

I tagged them so no one would get confused.
