No, YOU Shut Up!

a week in the life of my tivo - monday

January 22nd, 2007 by g

monday is actually a really good night for tv this season, and this monday is stellar because “Heroes” is back! yay! finally! i love that show! and as far as i know none of the other cast members has called Masi Oka a jap. oh yeah, and studio 60 is back too! and i’m guessing that will be the last time i will ever get to use that phrase.

“deal or no deal” - i swear, i don’t normally tivo this on monday or any other night but i needed something to provide a buffer so i could wait to watch heroes. so i while it was on i vacuumed the house and did the dishes and started this blog entry to put it off further because delayed gratification is good for the soul.

“heroes” - fantastic! they are still going off in 10 different directions, and still adding new ones, but they are actually going somewhere with all of them, and i can’t wait to see where it is they’re going. i find i actually do have to pay attention while it’s on, passive watching will get you really lost.
“studio 60 on the sunset strip” - long name, really, really good show. we didn’t realized how much we missed chandler. i’ve mentioned before that they talk really fast, but i like that, tho once again, passive watching doesn’t work.
at this point monday night is the only reason currently that i need two tivos. upstairs on tivo #2 which is named “geebus” (tivo #1 downstairs is named “jesus”) i recorded:
“two and a half men” - this show is really funny and really filthy! i would think it would cause an activated v-chip to spontaneously combust! one of the only two comedies i actually watch, and it almost always makes me laugh out loud. oh, and a year or so ago we noticed at the very last second when the credits start to roll, Chuck Lorre’s “vanity cards.” he’s the producer and they’re like his own personal blog entries, and they are usually very funny. he has cataloged them on his website - check ‘em out.
“the new adventures of old christine” - again long name, good show. it is so funny! and a few weeks ago my ex watched it for the first time and called me to ask me if i have a new job consulting for the show. then a week later, he called to say “it was nice seeing you on tv tonight.” shut up! i’m not like her! i don’t even HAVE a kid (of course if i did he would probably be as goofy and clumsy as that kid)!

stay tuned….

notice what is not tivo’d on monday nights - “24.” for those of you who may have forgotten i watched the first season of 24 religiously. not because i wanted to, because i had to. i was initially intrigued by the concept and got sucked in then gradually became more and more and more and more annoyed. mostly by how much time they waste in the name of “real time.” the pregnant pauses, the split screens showing everyone’s intense expression, the stupid, grating, metallic clinking, tick - tock -tick - tock. oh and the fact that the stupid annoying ticking clock LIES! they go to commercial at 7:13 (on my clock) but their clock says 7:16, and they come back from commercial and my clock says 7:20 and so does their’s. they want you to think their seven minute commercial breaks are only four minutes - bastards. but it does seem like some sort of time warp happens… otherwise how could so much happen in one day yet so little happen in EVERY episode?! but i had to finish the stupid season to see how it turned out. STUPID - that’s how it turned out! and as it turns out, Kiefer Sutherland is a hoooorrribble actor!!! i never realized it before 24, but now when i watch old stuff with him in it that i used to like, like “young guns,” and see how awful he is! but i digress… anyway, this damn show get’s such great reviews and people rave about it so i thought, well, maybe it’s gotten better, maybe kiefer got himself some acting lessons or hell, maybe just by some “practice makes perfect” principle he has improved. so i TRIED to suspend my disbelief that one guy could be in this kind of “die hard,” save the world scenario SIX FUCKING TIMES and watch the season premier. well, i got thru about 20 minutes of the FOUR HOUR premier before i bailed. i actually have a bad, physical reaction to that stupid, grating, metallic clinking tick-tock noise, and btw, kiefer hasn’t learned a thing.
