No, YOU Shut Up!

you know you’re old when…

  • as a general rule, you detest teenagers.
  • when you mention an IRA you’re not having an intellectual conversation about the irish republic army - i am in the process of opening one now to get a tax deduction.
  • you start worrying about things like tax deductions
  • you would rather go to the dentist than go to a nightclub (and you HATE going to the dentist)
  • your comfy shoes outnumber your cute shoes 3 to 1 (and you can’t remember the last time you wore the cute ones)
  • based on your year of birth, you’re only two years away from qualifying for the “silver care plan” that you see commercials for late at night, which has something to do with death benefits and funeral expenses
  • any day now in your mailbox you are expecting to receive an invitation to your 20th high school reunion!!! holy shit how is that possible? (ok, this one is about to have me hitting the bottle pretty hard.) TWENTY fuck years!! HOW is that possible??
  • you come to the sad realization that love is not enough (forgive me my hallmark moment)
  • you consult urbandictionary.com regularly because you no longer recognize the lingo

on the other hand:

i am rarely in bed before 1 a.m.

i am not unlikely to have a frozen pizza and doritos for dinner (last night i actually had frozen pizza and a side of sushi - yum)

i follow current music - i love death cab & snow patrol, and i like fallout boy - tho i have to say that pete wentz and his penis should stick to performing because whenever he like talks he like sounds like a complete like moron, and i suppose if i weren’t so old that wouldn’t like bother me. anyway, i even understand the lyrics to “this ain’t a scene its an arms race,” but i digress.

you’re only as old as you act (right? - that’s the story i’m stickin’ with anyway)

oh yeah, and i keep a silly blog!

and while i realize immaturity is not the same as youth, in some ways it’s better… you get paid more and you don’t have to put up with your parents!
