No, YOU Shut Up!

CSI: Denver

We actually resisted the urge to check out the aftermath on saturday, but today we figured the authorities had probably moved out and us lookie-loo’s could move in.

This of course, did not keep us out - or anybody else for that matter, I walked down the street with a steady stream of other nosy neighbors. By the way, this is actually more like a 1/4 mile, or about 8 blocks, from our place.

Wow! It’s kind of amazing.. here’s an aerial photo from the newspaper.

What was kind of amazing this morning is that this story had already moved down to page 3 or so, behind a dead body being found on the side of the highway, a dead body in a canoe, and other happy stories like that. I’ve said it before.. I’ll suggest it again, “CSI: Denver” - I think they could totally sell it!

This just in.. we watched the news this afternoon, and there was no new info on the story but there is one news source in Denver willing to report on the rumors and speculation surrounding the explosion (besides me and my rumors and speculation that it was a meth lab). TheDenverPost.com’s current headline reads “Neighbors: Suicide e-mail sent before blast“. Apparently a neighbor claims the owner of the house sent an email to his ex-wife sounding suicidal, but they had not verified that with the ex-wife. So how does a neighbor know?! I guess they could still be in touch with the ex-wife, but still, it seems a little flimsy, which could be why nobody else is reporting on that. It is certainly an interesting twist.

There is a little good news.. Brutus, a tan bull mastiff belonging to the home owner was miraculously found alive in the backyard. A fireman carried him out, he was taken to a vet and had only sustained some singed fur and whiskers. Yay, Brutus!

Considering how cold it was outside, the fact that the dog was outside actually does give a little credibility to the suicide theory. But we’ll probably never know.
