new show on monday night.” wow that’s really sayin’ something since there’s like 1 new show on monday night. anywhoo.. i found a new show and i can’t get enough, “Scarred” on mtv (i know). it’s a parade of idiot boys who have submitted videos of themselves having horrific accidents while skating, skateboarding, biking, or whatever idiot things idiot boys do without helmets. it is so hard to watch, i get totally freaked out and even a little woozy, but i have to keep watching - it’s awesome!! (and the answer to the question you’re asking right now - i don’t know what’s wrong with me.)
oh wait, i have two favorite new shows! “Deadliest Catch” is crazy! never heard of it until i saw Captain Sig in an interview on the daily show talking about this show about crab fishermen in the bering strait. yes i know that doesn’t sound exciting, but holy shit! i can’t believe what they go thru for frickin’ crab! i don’t eat crab because they look terrifying and i find the process of breaking their legs just to get a tiny bite of meat out really unappealing disturbing. anywhoo, “Deadliest Catch” is on the discovery channel, or the science channel, or something - check your local listings. And while it is “reality” tv it’s at least semi-educational.
for now however, there’s really only one show that matters, and it’s not LOST - one hour ’til herores!
ps: i know i’m supposed to be supporting scripted drama so that reality/dating/(no)talent/game shows don’t take over tv, hastening the inevitability of “idiocracy” (it’s a movie about the future in which the only show left on tv is “ow, my balls”; but i gave that “october road” show 3 weeks and it sucked! and “raines” is ok but only because jeff goldblum can’t help but be entertaining, but they moved it and i can’t be bothered with trying to find it, if it’s even still on. but at least i’m not watching “america’s top model,” or “dancing with the stars.”
pss: speaking of reality game shows, i just have to say this re: “the amazing race”.. using a YIELD is not dirty play, it’s not under-handed, it’s not sneaky, or shady, or shitty - it’s strategy! it’s no different than using a fast forward, so get over the whole karma krap, especially since the beauty queens have now technically used it twice and they’re in first place!! seriously! dirty play is telling ticket agents not to help the other people in line or taking the taxi that somebody else called, and schmirna does schit like that all the time because they’re “strong racers.” grrrrr..
