Police Activity

July 11th, 2007 by g

so this didn’t happen where i work, but where a friend of someone i work with works (huh?), and they were kind enough to share the insanity.

the following emails were actually exchanged company wide, at a company here in denver, with the subject line, “Police Activity” (names, including the company name, have been removed to protect the idiotic.):

Subject: Police Activity
Importance: High

All Employees,

Per the Denver Police Department there has been a shooting in the area. The suspect is on the loose. All employees should remain in the building until further notice. The guard will be stationed at the front door to monitor all people coming into the building. If you see anyone suspicious in the building please call 911 immediately. There will be updates as they are received.

[signed by the director of something or other]

—and the follow-up:

Subject: RE: Police Activity

All,

The latest update from the Denver Police Department is that they feel there is no immediate danger however; the suspect is still on the loose. The building across the street was searched and the suspect was not found. It is recommended that you use precautionary measures and only leave the building if absolutely necessary.

—notice the Importance is no longer “High.” and then of course, the smart-ass employee commentary:

Subject: FW: Police Activity

Forecast for the 80205 area code still calls for 80% chance of bullet showers and a 10% chance of untimely death. Looks like we’re not out of the woods yet….

–hahahahahahahahahaha!!

WTF?

ps: maybe i need a new category called “WTF?” life is strange!
